JLP Wins General Election



After a tense battle, numerous accusation and tense debates between the PNP (Peoples National Party) and JLP (Jamaica Labor Party), JLP came out victorious by winning the general election.  


Current Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller the leader of the PNP party has served has Prime Minster sine 2012. She also served has Prime Minister from March 2006 to September 2007. 



While serving as Prime Minister, Simpson-Miller retained the positions of Minister of Defence, Development, Information and Sports. She had served as Minister of Labour, Social Security and Sport, Minister of Tourism and Sports and Minister of Local Government throughout the years. 




Following her second election win in December 2011, when her party defeated the Jamaica Labor Party she became the second individual since independence to have served non-consecutive terms as prime minister, the first having been Michael Manley. 

Congratulations to the new leading party and the new Prime Minister Hon. Andrew Holness.
