Police Officer Attempt To Arrest Soldier, Causes A Commotion

Yesterday afternoon in Spanish St. Catherine, a stand-off  involving the police and an ex-member of the Jamaica Defence Force causes a commotion which resulted in roads being blocked by protesting bystanders.

Around 2 pm when the police, carrying out check point stop tried to stop a motorist who was accused of operating an illegal taxi.

During the attempted arrest
driver of  the vehicle, an ex-soldier, reportedly objected to being arrested which led to stand off between him and the police.

In a video recording of the incident, the ex-soldier can be seen resisting the police while boisterous bystanders registered their support for him. He was eventually taken into custody.

A gun was also confiscated.
