Police Officers And 18 Others Arrested During Anti-Scam Operation

19 people where arrested on Tuesday and yesterday in St. James, Kingston and St. Andrew, Trelawny and St. Ann including a police officer for their involvement in running a lottery scam.

The 19 included seven women. They were caught with $1.8 million in cash and a motor car. The money and the cat was seized during the anto-scam operation. 
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Devon Watkis, head of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC), "One of the persons taken into custody is one of our own, and that individual will be subjected to similar legal processes in continuation of our investigations,”  
Seven of the 19 held, including the policeman, are likely to face extradition to the United States, where hundreds of people, many of them elderly, have been fleeced of millions of dollars by lottery scammers operating mainly in western Jamaica.
