Suspicious Package In Times Square Turns Out To Be...

The suspicious package left in Times Square was identified after bomb squad was summoned to the scene.

Update: The package turns out to be garbage.

• The White House and the Capitol building are on lockdown after reports of shots being fired on Capitol Hill. In addition, a few hours to the north, the bomb squad has been called in to NYC's Times Square on concern about a suspicious package.

Update: A suspected shooter is in custody after wounding a U.S. Capitol police officer (not seriously). The shots were reportedly fired at the Capitol Visitors Center. Calling this an "isolated incident," the D.C. police department says there is no active threat to the public, and lockdown has been lifted at the White House.
